In Lafayette, power lines were blocking the road at the intersection of Gilman and Rubria St. on Thursday after Hurricane Laura swept through Acadiana.
The damage to trees and the downed power lines stretched about a block wide.
Despite that, residents say Laura had minimal affect on their community.
"The wind was very strong," said resident Wade Richmond. "Basically just a lot of water. The street didn't flood. The lights just flickered off, so basically we were really blessed."
