LAFAYETTE, La. — Tim Metcalf, owner of Deano's Pizza in Lafayette, has announced that the Metcalf family is about to buy the iconic Prejean's Cajun Restaurant.
Metcalf made the announcement Monday morning during the Moon Griffon Show on KPEL 96.5 FM.
"We've been talking to Mr. Bob Guillbeau and the Metcalf family is going to buy Prejean's," Metcalf said during the interview. "We haven't closed yet, but we are in the process. We've cut a deal. We're in the process of closing on it."
Metcalf said he considers Prejean's to be the most iconic Cajun restaurant in the world and acknowledged the challenges that would come with restoring live music there.
"It's going to be a huge challenge because of the COVID, the live music and everything that makes Prejean's Prejean's," said Metcalf. "I believe in the Cajun Culture and I believe I can turn it around."
