Lafayette Hazmat crews responded Friday afternoon to 105 Ridona St. to a report of a hazardous material leaking from a chemical storage tote at Oilflow.

The material was determined to be a Xylene solution, which is a flammable product. The leak was contained and the product was transferred to another storage tote. A private cleanup company will decontaminate the area and remove any hazardous materials.

The roadway near the business was blocked off by Lafayette Police to prevent traffic flow. Acadian Ambulance was also on standby.

The amount of product leaked is unknown, but crews were expected to be on scene for two hours.
