Power restored to LUS customers after crash on Verot and Artisan Road

UPDATE: Power has been restored to customers in the area following a crash that damaged an electrical cabinet.

At around 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, LUS reported 2,054 customers are out of power in Lafayette.

Officials say that a vehicle crash in the area of Verot School Road and Artisan Road caused the outage. The vehicle struck an electrical cabinet.

Alton Trahan with the Lafayette Fire Department says that the vehicle crash caused the fire and firefighters were called out to extinguish it.
