LAFAYETTE. La. - City and state leaders are sharing their ideas on how to improve Louisiana roads.

Members of the Joint Highway Priority Construction Committee held a meeting Tuesday at the Clifton Chenier Center in Lafayette. The hearings, referred to as DOTD "Road Show," review highway construction priorities for the fiscal year 2020-2021.

I-10 over the Atchafalaya and the I-49 Connector were both topics of interest during the discussion.

Each DOTD District will be hosting its own Road Show to allow legislators, other elected officials, DOTD representatives and the general public to discuss and obtain information about construction projects in the preliminary FY 20-21 Highway Priority Program and how those projects will affect each area of the state.

"Well the biggest priority again is our roads," said Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory. "The infrastructure is definitely in need. Very little federal dollars coming throughout the state. Hopefully we can think of some creative ways to improve the road in our state and I think that's going to be the major issue for a lot of people that are here today."
