LAFAYETTE, La. - The Groovy Movies at Cité des Arts occur on the first Monday of each month and will feature the best in classic comedies, dramas, film noir and forgotten treasures from the history of national and international cinema.

The next Groovy Movie happens on March 2 at 7:00 p.m. at 109 Vine Street in downtown Lafayette and will feature Harold Lloyd's 1923 silent comedy feature film classic "Safety Last!"

Harold Lloyd was declared "the third genius" by silent film historian Kevin Brownlow in a documentary by the same name.

Harold Lloyd's films out grossed his more famous contemporaries Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, and like Keaton, Harold Lloyd performed his own stunts.

"Safety Last!" is best remembered for the iconic image of Lloyd dangling from a clock tower 12 stories above a Los Angeles street.

Harold Lloyd and "Safety Last!" influenced the likes of Jackie Chan, Martin Scorsese and Robert Zemeckis.

Tickets to the Groovy Movies are $10 and can be purchased at www.citedesarts.org, at the door, or by calling 337-291-1122.
