Churches in the Diocese of Lafayette are exempt from new guidelines set forth Friday by Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory, the Diocese announced on Saturday.

Bishop Douglas Deshotel confirmed that churches are exempt from the guideline that limits gatherings to 200 people and requires that participants and hosts of events wear masks.

An LCG spokesman confirmed that all churches and places of worship do still fall under the state's Phase Two guidelines.

Bishop Deshotel continues to strongly recommend that parishioners wear masks while attending Mass.
