Pollard's Riverbend Farms Christmas tree market is opening locations in the Lafayette area for the season.
Each year, the family company comes down to sell their Christmas trees which are farm raised in the Mountains of Western North Carolina.
"Pollard's Riversbend Farm is dedicated to bringing you only the highest quality Fraser Fir Christmas Trees," their website boasts.
Pollard's says that they are committed to the Lafayette area and have been coming back for 37 years.
"The culture, the people, the food. We have so many friends that are like family now that have worked for us for 10 to 15 years," Jeff Pollard said.
Pollards keeps rotations going every year and stock will be replenished as trees are sold. There are several locations where Christmas trees are being sold, Monday night, KATC's Scott Brazda was at the Ridge Road location which opened on November 23.
They also have two location, on W Pinhook Road and Albertson Parkway in Broussard which open on November 27, 2019.
Brazda spoke with Jeff Pollard about the do's and don't of Christmas tree shopping.
When shopping for a Christmas tree it is important to look for a tree with good color. Pollard says that needles should not feel brittle. There should be no cracking and loss of needles when touched.
Customers should know how high their ceilings are and what space they are looking to fill. Trees to continue to grow.
Pollard says that once your tree is purchased, go home and get it in water. Keep it away from heat, can lights, and big picture windows.
Stands can be brought so the trees can be mounted for easy installation at home. Trees at the farm lots range from 2 feet to 14 feet tall.
The company will be in the area until about December 16, 2019.
