Chenier Center Block Party returns for second year in Lafayette neighborhood

LAFAYETTE — A block party at the Chenier Center is returning for its second year.

The celebration, held in and around the Chenier Brand of the Lafayette Public Library on W. Willow Street is open to the public. Organizers say it is a way for neighbors to meet each other, enjoy live music and learn about the services the Chenier Center has to offer.

The event will take place from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Below are a list of organizations that will be out at the event on Wednesday evening:

• Project LAUNCH book giveaway for children

• Jam to live music with PMG (Philadelphia Music Group) and New Natives Brass Band

• FREE Back-to-school vaccinations with Lafayette Parish Health Unit

• Try out Lafayette Community M.I.Brary musical instruments

• LCG Planning and Zoning will share ECI projects coming to the neighborhood

• Lafayette Police Department

• FREE Refreshments from Super 1 Foods

• Home Depot Kids' Workshop

• Register for the Library's Summer Reading Program and enjoy crafts

• Tour the Library's new GoGo Biblio Bookmobile

Councilman Pat Lewis is co-hosting the event. He is the council member representing district 3 which covers the neighborhoods the Chenier Center services.
