Carencro man arrested after shooting, killing dog

A Carencro man was accused of aggravated cruelty to animals after he allegedly shot a dog to death.

Kevin Lagneaux, 50, allegedly shot the dog with a .308 caliber rifle, records at the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office show.

The incident happened Sunday night, records show. He shot the dog twice as she was running away, the sheriff's records allege.

If convicted, Lagneaux faces a mandatory minimum fine of $5,000 and a mandatory minimum sentence of one year in prison.
