Garth Brooks is known for hosting high energy, one-of-a-kind concerts.

In 2017, he sold out the Cajundome multiple nights. This weekend, the dome is hoping for another sold out event.

More than 500 tickets were sold and roughly 100 more spots are available. The drive-in will be in Cajun Field on the Cajundome side.

"Garth has a special pre-show with an artists that he's really excited about. It will sort of be a sneak peak at an up and coming country artist as well," Cajundome Marketing Director Casey White said.

Jude Walker with 97.3 the Dawg says Lafayette should be proud that this is the only spot you can see his concert in Louisiana.

"Fans here really love him and will drive in from Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Alexandria. It should be a great night," Walker said.

Once you park here at Cajun Field, you can get out of your car, but you have to maintain social distancing.

"We're going to have two very large screens flanked on each end of the parking lot here. You'll have a little bit of space in your parking spot if you want to get out of your vehicle and watch the show," White said.

Gates will open at 6:30 p.m., an hour before the concert starts. Once your ticket is scanned you'll be given an FM station to dial into. The dome will have concessions and other vendors will be setup.

"Any community support will help sustain our venue. That's what's really most important. We want to make sure we're putting our folks to work," White said.

the Cajundome says other artists are interested in hosting drive-in concerts, a trend 97.3 the Dawg says a lot of groups are doing.

"I think they want something different and at least be able to see some folks. I know Brad Pasely has some shows, Keith Urban, Darius Rucker, Alan Jackson did a drive-up in Alabama and a few thousand vehicles showed up for that party. I think we will see a little bit of that, but I think drive-in is a pretty good alternative," Walker said.
