Police: Accidental overdose likely cause of death for man found in Lafayette park

Lafayette Police say that a preliminary investigation into a body found at Pa Davis Park revealed the person likely died of an accidental overdose.

Police say a preliminary drug screen was conducted at the scene by the Lafayette Parish Coroner Officer. Police say the victim did not have any apparent injuries and no foul play is suspected.

No positive identification has been made.

LAFAYETTE, La. - Lafayette Police are investigating a body discovered in a Lafayette park.

An unknown white male in his twenties was found dead Monday morning in the park located at 120 Dawn Street, according to Sgt. Dorian Brabham, spokesperson for the Lafayette Police Department.

The cause of death is unknown at this time.
