As expected, Mayor-President Joel Robideaux has vetoed a line in the 2019-2020 fiscal budget.

The item, which passed as a late budget amendment by the council by a narrow 5-4 vote, would restore $7 million earmarked to extend Louisiana Avenue one-third of a mile toward Gloria Switch.

When the administration presented the budget to the council, the funding for three road projects had been re-allocated to a drainage project. Also cut by Robideaux's budget were the South City Parkway project and an extension of Robley Drive. The total amount rededicated was about $45 million.

Robideaux informed the council of the action via letter today. The item is the only thing Robideaux vetoed in the budget, according to the letter.

If the council wants to override the veto, a super-majority would be required.
