LAFAYETTE, La. — The Academy of Interactive Entertainment have announced that it will present the Artcade free festival for film, music and video games in a virtual format this year on June 20.

The Academy of Interactive Entertainment is a non-profit for those who want to break into the video game development and animation industry.

According to a release from AIE, Artcade provides musicians, filmmakers and game developers the opportunity to showcase their craft and will continue with the tradition of doing so, even without being an in-person event.

A prime aspect of this year’s event will be the opportunity to play video games developed by AIE students, and view various panels and hear from local industry professionals, the release states.

Artcade in previous years has been held at both the LITE Center and the Lafayette Science Museum.

AIE says it always strives to bring the celebration of the Acadiana indie media arts scene to give attendees a fun and safe family-friendly event.

More details on this year's Artcad can be found on their website.
