The Lafayette Fire Department is investigating an arson following a fire Wednesday night on St. Charles Street.
Lafayette firefighters say they responded to a house fire Wednesday night around 10:00 pm in the 300 block of St. Charles. The fire was initially reported as a vehicle fire in a garage.
When firefighters arrived, the occupants of the garage apartment were outside. There were no injuries reported.
According to LFD, the fire burned for 30 minutes before if was brought under control. The vehicle and apartment sustained heavy fire damage.
Fire investigators say that fire was intentionally set. It originated inside the garage area, spreading to the vehicle and the home. An investigation is ongoing into who was responsible for setting the fire.
