Arrest made after shooting at intersection of Johnston and Garfield Streets

LAFAYETTE, La. — The Lafayette Police Department have arrested a Lafayette man in connection with a shooting at the intersection of Johnston and Garfield Streets that occurred on Tuesday.

Investigators state that they were able to gather enough information to obtain an arrest warrant for Jeremy George Jr., for Attempted 1st Degree Murder on Wednesday.

According to LPD, George, 18, was located and brought to the police department where he was interviewed by investigators.

George was then arrested for Attempted 1st Degree Murder, and transported and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

On May 19, at 12:55 p.m., LPD officers responded to the intersection of Johnston and Garfield Streets in reference to a shooting.

Once on scene, LPD says officers located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower torso. Medical aid was rendered to the victim prior to being transported to a local hospital.

The suspect fled the scene prior to officers' arrival.
