The Boards of Directors of both the Acadian Home Builders Association and the REALTOR® Association of Acadiana are asking Lafayette councils to defer action on a proposed parish-wide property tax increase. An item is on the agenda for this Tuesday, September 1, 2020.

“Our members feel that this is not the right time to increase the property taxes on homeowners who are still dealing with the health and economic devastation of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic,” notes Adrienne Fontenot, Chief Executive Officer of the Acadian Home Builders Association.

“We’re just asking our elected officials for additional time for education purposes. We want everyone to be aware of the full fiscal impact this vote will have on already struggling households,” says Susan Holliday, Chief Executive Officer of The REALTOR® Association of Acadiana.
