Vigil held for Matthew Carter at Comeaux High

A vigil is ongoing at Comeaux High School for Matthew Carter.

That vigil was originally planned to be held at the football field at Comeaux High. Thursday morning Assistant Football Coach Jack Franks updated plans saying that, due to weather, the vigil will take place in the school's cafeteria.

The public was invited to attend the vigil which is set to began at 4:00 pm.

Parking will be available in the parking lot of the school located at 100 West Bluebird Drive.

On Wednesday, Carter, a senior at Comeaux High, died of injuries he received during an attempted armed robbery on N. Meyers Drive.

Charges for the two teens, ages 13 and 14, have been upgraded to first-degree murder. Both remain in custody.

The Lafayette Parish School System has sent grief counselors to the school for students.
