LAFAYETTE, La. - First responders from Lafayette and Iberia parishes are giving back by donating blood.

The 3rd annual First Responders Sirens for Life blood drive was held Thursday for National Blood Donor Month.

Acadiana's first responders unite again for a friendly blood drive competition.

"They see first hand on a regular basis the importance of having an adequate blood supply on our shelves so we partnered up to give blood on these three days and we have a little friendly competition to see which unit brings in the most blood donors," said Mitzi Breaux, Marketing and Communications Manager for Vitalant.

Donate on one of the following days at the Vitalant donation center, 1503 Bertrand Drive in Lafayette, to show your support:

Wednesday, January 8 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Thursday, January 9 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Friday, January 10 from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Donors will receive a T-Shirt. Food will also be served on all three days from Meche's Donuts, Zeas, McAlister's and Chick-fil-A.
