One man who didn't have a warm place to sleep can now rest easy thanks to the kindness of one woman.

"This woman and her husband have been helping me. I've been homeless for quite some time," said Mr. Davis.

Mr. Davis is what most call him, and he says he is grateful for a woman who was once a stranger but now a friend.

"I can't correctly call the word or the feeling, but I know I wasn't leaving him there in the cold," said Robbi Schooley.

It was last Thursday when Schooley saw Mr. Davis sitting outside of a Lafayette convenience store.

"He normally is at a convenience store that me and my husband visit at least once a day. Every time we see him he normally cleans up the parking lot. They allow him to earn a little money by letting him help clean up," said Schooley.

Schooley says she could tell he had nowhere to go, and she was determined to help. She contacted ARCH of Acadiana, and they were able to get Mr. Davis a hotel room on a night when temperatures were in the 20's.

ARCH has provided rooms for some of the homeless in Acadiana through donations from the community.

"The Acadiana area, the entire Acadiana area. The folks here are good at their heart. "

As for Mr. Davis, plans are in the works to find him a permanent shelter in Carencro.

"It will be a relief. A whole lot of relief until I move into this apartment in Carencro, I sure appreciate it."
