The Acadian Home Builders Association says that their 2020 Parade of Homes will transition to a virtual tour to ensure public safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We at AHBA are committed to the safety of Parade goers and we urge everyone to follow the recommendations of the CDC in terms of best health practices like frequent hand washing and the use of anti-bacterial wipes and hand sanitizers," said Executive Director Adrienne Fontenot in a press release.

Details on how to access the virtual tour are forthcoming, but the association says the plan is to activate a website in mid-April where users can take complimentary tours.

While the decision to cancel the tour was difficult, Fontenot said that they are hopeful the transition to a virtual "Parade of Homes from Home" will mitigate the cancellation's effects.

The event was scheduled to run from March 28 through April 5, 2020.

The Acadian Home Builders Association office is currently closed to the public, but normal operations are still being conducted.
