Acadiana Karate hosted the 15th Annual Kicks for Miles Break-A-Thon today.
At the event, Acadiana Karate students broke thousands of boards in front of a live audience using their signature karate kicks, chops, and jabs. Boards were pre-sold for $5.00 each with proceeds benefitting MPCS.
More than $250,000 has been raised since the event started in 2005, helping thousands of Acadiana cancer patients fight, survive and live with cancer.
"We love giving our students the opportunity to learn how to give back to our community by using their unique talents as martial artists. The students love using what they've learned in class to break their boards," said Sensei Stacey Knight Mejia, owner of Acadiana Karate. "Plus, we love the fact that all of the money raised stays right here in Acadiana!"
We'll have more tonight on KATC TV-3.
