Lafayette Utilities System says that approximately 1,000 LUS customers remain without power as of 6:00 am on Friday, August 28.
Utility system crews along with crews from Florida are currently working to restore those residents affected by Hurricane Laura.
Work continued late into the night on Thursday after Laura exited the Acadiana area and has resumed Friday morning.
At landfall, LUS says that power outages totaled approximately 15,000 customers.
To report an outage, customers can call LUS at (337) 291-9200 or for downed power lines or power poles, call LUS at (337) 291-5700.
Residents are reminded to not touch or drive over any fallen power lines.
