A man from the state of Iowa was arrested for vehicle theft and kidnapping after a traffic stop on I-10 Sunday evening in Jeff Davis Parish.

The Jeff Davis Paish Sheriff's office says that 47-year-old Terrence Dshaun McKinstry of Indianapolis, Iowa was booked with possesion of stolen things and second degree kidnapping.

Deputies were called Sunday by the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office to be on the lookout for a van on I-10 that was believed to be involved in a kidnapping.

A van fitting the description was seen exiting I-10 at Roanoke and stopping at Peto's Truck Stop where deputies say they made contact with McKinstry and arrested him.

Upon his arrest, deputies say they learned that McKinstry was an employee of a company in Ft. Worth, Texas that had reported the van stolen.

Also in the vehicle was a female passenger who allegedly told deputies she had been held against for will for five months by McKinstry in Kenner.

The woman had alerted a store clerk in Crowley that she needed help.

McKinstry is held in the Jeff Davis Parish Jail.
