A Jennings man has died following a motorcycle crash Thursday night on Faul Road in Jeff Davis Parish.
Troopers say the single-vehicle crash occurred around 7:30 pm on October 15 just west of LA Hwy 99 and claimed the life of 20-year-old Brennan Jace Hebert.
A preliminary investigation revealed officers with the Welsh Police Department observed a motorcycle traveling north on LA 99 at a high rate of speed.
Officers tell state police they attempted to stop the motorcyclist, but lost sight of the vehicle and ended the pursuit.
Troopers say that Hebert was traveling west on Faul Road when he failed to negotiate a left hand curve and lost control of the motorcycle. The motorcycle slid off the right side of the roadway, entered a ditch, and came to rest in a wooded area. Hebert was ejected from the motorcycle as a result of the crash.
State Police say that Hebert was wearing a DOT approved helmet at the time of the crash and died at the scene.
Excessive speed is a factor in the crash, according to troopers.
A toxicology sample was also obtained and will be submitted for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.
