In Jennings, many are boarding up and setting up sandbags in preparation for Hurricane Laura.
One 5-year-old is celebrating her birthday in the face of a dangerous storm.
Alison Lopez's mother says that the family had already scaled back plans due to COVID-19 and now with Laura, she had to make changes again.
Alison spent the day outside before the rains came through, but still had a special birthday treat - a unicorn cake.
She picked a headband out, the dress, the shoes, and she even got a special sash this morning.
"Go away hurricane!" Lopez said.
Even in the circumstances, we hope Alison had a very happy birthday.
