The Jeff Davis Parish Library System has announced temporary changes to Friday operating hours for three parish libraries.

Beginning on August 17, Friday hours will change for the Elton, Lake Arthur and Welsh libraries to 9:30 am until 4:00 pm.

The library system says that the Jennings Library will operate at its normal hours from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Students in 6th grade and up will be able to visit the libraries without supervision, but the library system says those visits must be to complete schoolwork or to pick up items.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions on the number of people allowed in buildings, the library says that students will not be able to "hang out" at the library.

Students are encouraged to call their local library to reserve a computer time. Staff will be available to assist students with accessing the internet and Google Classroom accounts.

Tutoring services will not be provided.
