A Jeanerette man was arrested on Friday after he allegedly shot a juvenile in the neck area.

Police Chief Vallot said that officers responded to the 600 block of Kern St. on Friday in reference to a shooting, and learned that a male juvenile had been shot in the neck area. Police identified Terrance Ledet as a suspect, and it was later learned that Ledet and the juvenile victim were "horse playing," when the gun went off and struck the juvenile.

Ledet was placed under arrest and charged with negligent injury, illegal discharge of a weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
