NEW IBERIA — Belle Teche Nursing Home held a ceremony for workers at the facility who are graduating.

Grads were given a ceremony outside in front of the facility located in New Iberia. Dressed in their caps and gowns, six workers were honored for their completion of schooling. One worker is a college graduate while five are high school grads.

The college graduate is from ULM, with a degree in Kinesiology.

The group was handed out plaques and give a "rope of honor" during the ceremony. The graduation was open to students families and social distancing was practiced.

A huge sign out front of the facility said "Congrats BT Grads."

"This is not the end for them. We're going to show them that they are our heroes," said Al-Krasha "KK" Jeanbaptiste, Nursing Home Activities Director. "They decided to come work at this time during the pandemic, so we're just trying to show and let the community know that Belle Teche cares for everyone."
