On Saturday, a peace march was held in New Iberia to protest against racial injustice and police brutality.

Called "Liberty and Justice for All: A United Protest Against Racial Injustices and Police Brutality," the march was open to all who wished to participate.

Protesters met at the Iberia Parish Courthouse and marched peacefully to Lloyd G. Porter Stadium.

Social distancing measures were implemented.

Organizers say the event aimed to bring the community together against injustices faced by people of color. One protester explained why he was glad to see so many join in on the march.

"I'm happy to see that so many people are coming out, because if we stay sitting back we're going to pass that silence on to the next generation," explained Robby Bethel. "And then the next generation will be fighting a battle that should be over by now."
