NEW IBERIA, La. — City officials are taking over their roles after a swearing in ceremony was held Tuesday in New Iberia.

The ceremony took place on the front steps of city hall, and Mayor Freddie DeCourt says he, along with the entire town, is excited for the new term.

"It's a great day. Today everybody is getting sworn in, it's the start of our new term, and we are all excited. The town is excited. My new council is excited," said DeCourt. "So it's a good day today."

Along with the mayor, those sworn in today include Ricky Gonsoulin as Mayor Pro Tem, Tony Migues as City Marshal, and several city council members.

If you missed the ceremony and would like to watch, it was streamed on the City of New Iberia's Facebook page.
