UPDATE: New Iberia Police are searching for a suspect in the Sunday afternoon shooting that left a local man dead.
Police were called to the 900 block of Mississippi Street, where they found a 23-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, a spokeswoman said.
Detectives began investigating, and were able to identify Tyron Deshean Chevalier, 21, as the suspect. A warrant has been issued for his arrest for second-degree murder.
