The New Iberia City Marshal has been arrested, booked on malfeasance and forgery charges following an investigation into alleged falsifying of subpoena signatures.

Tony Migues was arrested Thursday February 4, 2021. Louisiana State Police confirmed Migues' arrest.

Louisiana State Police Troop I says that Migues was charged and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail following an investigation into alleged falsifying of subpoena signatures. The investigation began in January as Detectives with the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations received information alleging multiple signatures had been forged by Migues on official court documents.

They say an investigation confirmed Migues forged the signature of multiple individuals showing they had been served with a subpoena in lieu of making personal service. Based on this information, investigators secured an arrest warrant for Migues.

On February 4, 2021, Migues turned himself in to investigators.

He is charged with eight counts of forgery, injuring public records, and malfeasance in office. He was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.

The investigation is active and ongoing, state police say. No further information was available.

Records show that Migues is not currently in jail.

Migues was sworn into office on November 2019. The first new city marshal in over 40 years.
