New Iberia City Council to discuss trash, rezoning, new cemetery

The New Iberia City Council meets today at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall council chamber.

On the agenda is an update from Charles LaGrange about garbage and recycling pick-up in the city limits.

Students from Westgate High School will present their Next Era program for tobacco-free living.

Also on the agenda, the council will consider a recommendation to use Main Street Grant funds to replace the Evangeline sign.

Victor Segura is asking the council to approve the development of a cemetery on 20 acres he owns near Halphen Street and Richelieu Circle.

The council will consider two rezoning recommendations. One would change the zoning of 410 W. Main Street from neighborhood commercial to light industrial. The other would change the zoning at 418 W. Main Street from neighborhood commercial to light industrial. Both requests are being made by LAWCO, Louisiana Water Co.
