NEW IBERIA, La. — The New Iberia City Council honored those who helped saved the life of a kidnapped girl during an Amber Alert last week.
During its meeting on Monday, the council gave Life Saving Valor Awards to Dion Merrick and Brandon Antoine.
Merrick and Antoine used their garbage truck to stop the car from leaving with the kidnapped girl inside and quickly called 911.
They say if you see something out of the ordinary, then don't be afraid to speak up.
"If you see something, just don't pass and go about your everyday life. Say something," said Merrick. "If you know something's not right, say something, because it could probably save somebody's life."
