Names of all suspects in Garron Lewis homicide released

The New Iberia Police Department has released more names in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Garron Lewis.

Following a request by KATC for more information on arrests, New Iberia Police released the names of 4 other people arrested for their involvement in the fatal August 2019 shooting along with charges for each.

23-year-old Terrel Ladre Hamilton was arrested on a charge of Conspiracy to Commit Second Degree Murder along with 22-year-old JaBryson Jamar Johnlewis and 22-year-old Terrence Deshawn Adkins, II who are all facing the same charge. Adkins and Hamilton was arrested in September of 2019. There was not information on when Johnlewis was arrested.

Also newly reported as an arrest in the case is 33-year-old Travis Lamont Layne, Jr. He is facing charges of Second Degree Murder, Criminal Conspiracy, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, Illegal Use of Weapons, Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of Domestic Abuse Battery. He was arrested in October 2019.

Three others were arrested in September and announced during a press conference held by New Iberia Police. Those individuals are below:

  • Kenray Olivier Ledet was arrested in September on charges of Second Degree Murder, Criminal Conspiracy, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, and Illegal Use of Weapons
  • Bryson Johnlewis is charged with Second Degree Murder, Criminal Conspiracy, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, Illegal Use of Weapons, and Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon.
  • Trevonce J. Bernard is booked with Second Degree Murder, Criminal Conspiracy, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, Illegal Discharge of a Firearm

Lewis was found dead in a vehicle that was parked on Audry Street at its intersection with Rene Street on August 16, 2019.

Lewis had recently started his senior year at New Iberia Senior High school. He was set to be quarterback for the Yellowjackets. Following the shooting, Lewis' family said they believed he was targeted and those responsible for the crime knew him.

Lewis is the son of Iberia Parish School Board member Raymond "Shoe-Do" Lewis.
