The Iberia Parish Sheriff's office has arrested a man on a attempted murder charge after responding to an alleged domestic disturbance.
Deputies say that on December 6, 2020, at around 1:00 a.m., they responded to a possible domestic disturbance in the 3500 block of Old Spanish Trail. An anonymous caller reported that 21-year-old Jonquel Marshall as one of the persons involved in the domestic disturbance and that there was an active warrant for his arrest for Attempted 2nd Degree Murder.
Details on the incident involving the attempted murder charge were not provided.
Deputies with assistance from New Iberia Police Department K-9 Unit attempted to contact Marshall at the residence. Deputies say that the occupants of the home repeatedly denied that Marshall was inside the residence and allegedly refused to allow IPSO and NIPD to search the residence.
Marshall attempted to flee out of the rear of the residence, once seeing the NIPD K-9 waiting, Marshall immediately exited the front door, where he surrendered.
Marshall was transported to Iberia Parish Jail with the and booked on charges of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and Probation Violation. He is being held on a $75,000 bond.
