NEW IBERIA, La. — Iberia Parish has reported its first death from Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), according to the Louisiana Department of Health.
As of noon on April 1, LDH reported that there were 49 total cases of COVID-19 in addition to 1 death.
In total, LDH reported 1,187 additional cases since Tuesday, bringing the total to 6,424 positive cases across the state.
So far, 273 people have died from the virus in Louisiana.
