A man is facing charges in Iberia Parish after police say he crashed into an officer's unit during a vehicle chase early Wednesday.

According to Jeanerette Police, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Clyde Darby, Jr. early on Wednesday morning, but Darby drove off. Darby led officers on a pursuit through the city and then on parish roads. During the pursuit, Darby ran his vehicle into a Jeanerette Police unit with the officer inside, police say. The officer in the patrol car was not injured.

Darby was wanted on several outstanding felony warrants, including attempted second degree murder, two counts of a felon in possession of a firearm, and attempted unauthorized entry. He was found hours later and charged with additional charges stemming from the pursuit, which include attempted murder of a police officer, aggravated flight, criminal damage to property, possession of synthetic cannabinoid, and no drivers license.

He was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail; bond has not yet been set.
