The City of Jeanerette is one step closer to no longer being under state control.
Fiscal Administrator David Greer says that the City of Jeanerette is in good shape and should be able to run on its own without him.
Before Greer can officially sign off from his duties, the Attorney General's office will have to petition the court and a district judge will have to agree.
The state took over Jeanerette in 2018 after the city was unable to complete three consecutive years of audits.
In the three years working as the fiscal administrator, Greer says he was able to amend the financial problems with the city and hired qualified people.
"We've got good people in there now and we have a mayor who is actively involved," Greer said
