IPSO: Man takes patrol vehicle and leads law enforcement on pursuit

The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office says a man led deputies on a chase through three parishes in their own marked vehicle on Monday afternoon

On January 25, 2021, at around 2:00 pm, Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call regarding a disturbance in the 4400 block of Old La. 25.

Upon arrival deputies attempted to detain the suspect. The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Steve Duhon, allegedly gained control of a marked Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol vehicle and fled the area. IPSO deputies initiated pursuit of Duhon.

They say Duhon fled down Hwy. 14 to Hwy. 90 through St. Martin Parish and into Lafayette Parish with IPSO deputies in pursuit. With assistance from Lafayette Police Department, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police, Duhon was stopped at the intersection of Hwy 90 and Tower Drive in Lafayette Parish.

He was taken into custody, placed under arrested and later transferred to Lafayette General Medical Center for treatment. Once released, he will be booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center with charges of Aggravated Flight and Unauthorized use of a vehicle and then transported to the Iberia Parish Jail.
