Iberia Parish transfers mobile radios to New Iberia Police

20 mobile radios were transferred to the New Iberia Police from the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Louis Ackal announced Thursday that 20 Motorolla mobile radios were transferred to the New Iberia Police Department to help assist in the protection of residents.

The transfer was part of a mutual aid agreement that was authorized by Ackal and New Iberia Mayor Freddie DeCourt.

According to officials, the equipment transfer will allow the city of save about $8,000 by adding these radios to their communication network.
