The Iberia Parish School Board will consider delaying the start of school for all students until after Labor Day at next week's school board meeting.

A proposed revision to the 2020-2021 calendar shows that students in grades 1-6 would begin classes on September 8-9, depending on their last name, and students in PreK and Kindergarten would begin on September 14. Classes would begin on September 10 and 11 for middle and high school students, depending on their A or B hybrid group.

In the proposal, students would have three days off for Mardi Gras and for Easter, instead of the five days off named in the current calendar. The one day for Fall Break would also be removed. Students' last day would be delayed to June 4, 2021 instead of May 27.

The school board voted at their last meeting on July 8 to delay the start of school to August 17.

You can find the full proposed revised calendar below and more information on IPSB's reopening plans here.

The board meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on August 5.
