An Iberia Parish business has announced plans to lay off about 50 employees.
Aviation Exteriors Louisiana, which is located at the Acadiana Regional Airport, sent at WARN letter to state workforce officials earlier this month, records show.
"Recently, Avation Exteriors Louisiana received notice of a loss of business from its main customer due to COVID," the letter states. "The company carefully analyzed this situation and its available options, and it is with regret that I must report to you that the company has decided to substantially reduce its operations. As a result, we anticipate that we will permanently lay off approximately 48 employees over the next 15 days."
The positions held by those being laid off include safety observer, service helper, painter, A&P mechanic, facilities helper, facility maintenance mechanic, stockroom clerk, paint booth assistant and administrative assistant.
