Iberia Parish Mosquito Control says that surveillance of the mosquito populations has indicated a marked increase in floodwater mosquitoes.

The District announced that it will conduct additional aerial operations on Friday September 27, 2019, in the evening hours to address these populations.

Residents are asked that if they must be outdoors, wear repellent, cover exposed skin and avoid outdoor activity when mosquitoes are most active. Residents throughout the Parish are urged to follow the guidelines recommended by the CDC.

Friday's operations will target Daspit, Sugar Mill, Sugar Oaks, Vida Shaw, Loreauville and all points in between.

Other mosquito abatement operations were taken this week in preparation for the Sugar Cane Festival happening in New Iberia over the weekend.
