Iberia deputies collecting gifts for long-term care facility residents

The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office is collecting gifts for people living in long-term care facilities in the parish.

IPSO deputies put on the donation drive and will divide the gifts among the five facilities located in Iberia Parish.

Sheriff Tommy Romero says their office has been aware of the loneliness felt by so many residents over the past nine months and felt it was their duty to share the Christmas spirit.

"A lot of these people who are shut in the nursing homes have no one, no visitors," explained Romero. "So we wanted to extended that out to the sheriff's office, and we felt that maybe we could offer it to the public as well to participate."

Suggested items include socks, hats/beanies, slippers, fleece jackets, and cologne/perfume/body wash.

Anyone with questions can contact Public Affairs Director Katherine Breaux at 337-551-4965.
