An former employee at a New Iberia non-profit organization has been arrested for theft of nearly $75,000 from the organization.
38-year-old Devatrice Wells Hall was arrested on charges of theft and computer fraud in connection with the investigation. She was arrested on Wednesday, December 18, and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.
New Iberia Police say that on December 6, 2019, investigators were notified of a theft which occurred at the non-profit. During the investigation, officers learned that Hall, who at the time was employed with the organization, was allegedly stealing funds from the cash deposits.
During an audit of the financial records, investigators say they found that Hall stole $75,944 during a time span of two years. The audit revealed that Hall was also allegedly falsifying the financial records in an attempt to cover up the theft.
The Initial Offense Report shows the address where the crime occurred as 623 Walton St. in New Iberia, which is ARC of Iberia.
