UPDATE: The Iberia Parish Sheriff's office says a 19-year-old man died from wounds he received when shot early Sunday.
Deputies were called to the 3100 block of Sugar Oaks Road, and found that the man was shot. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died, a spokeswoman says.
"IPSO is not releasing the name of the deceased at this time until all family members have been contacted," a release states.
Sheriff Tommy Romero stated Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Deputies and IPSO Bureau of Investigation Detectives are currently interviewing numerous eyewitnesses in regard to a suspect and/or suspects involved in this ongoing homicide investigation, the release states.
The shooting happened at a gathering, sheriff's deputies say.
