Blue Dog sculpture goes up at George Rodrigue Park in New Iberia

A new sculpture in now in place at the George Rodrigue Park on Main Street in New Iberia.

The artist's iconic blue dog, an aluminum statue, now stands in the park.

This is the final week of phase one of the project. The park is still closed to the public.

Paul Schexnayder a local artist and chairman of the George Rodrigue Park says phase 2 is scheduled to begin in the next few weeks.

Trees and plants will be added in that phase.

The blue dog sculpture is mounted at the entrance of the park and is tri-color. Each image of the iconic canine is a different color.
