IBERIA PARISH — A blood drive was held Friday for the family of 8-year-old Jamal Robinson, who died from injuries sustained in a drive-by shooting in Iberia Parish.

Caneview Elementary held the blood drive at their campus which began at 1:00 p.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m.

Each unit collected will help defray the cost of medical expenses for Jamal's family.

If you would like to donate, call Lourdes Blood Donor Center at 337-470-4483.

On Wednesday, the school held a dress-down day to help donate to the family. That fundraiser brought in more than $6,000. The money will go towards Robinson's funeral.

The Iberia Parish School District has provided counselors for the students and staff of Caneview to help those needing support during this time.
